Seb relaxed slightly as he heard the door slam, and he was already beginning to crawl out when Evolet peeked under the bed. Once free, he pulled himself into a sitting position and looked at her. He also felt a little embarrassed to have heard everything between them and was quiet for a moment before saying, "I think we really need that wine now." There wasn't much point in leaving; if he went back to Raevaryn, he would be arrested, and if he remained here and was found, he would be arrrested.

“Definitely,” Evolet murmured, wiping her eyes again. She knew she looked a mess, but she didn’t care. It was just Seb, and she was grieving. As she went to the door once more to send for wine, it was abruptly pushed open. A guard forced his way in on the king’s order. “Seize him!” He ordered, and two more came forward to grab Seb. “No, stop!” Evolet tried to command, though they simply pushed past her.

Seb watched the door push open again with a feeling of dread; this time, there was no pause in which he could scramble back under the bed. For a moment, he considered his options. He could use his magic to slam the guards back and then escape out of the window, but he would just be running again. He knew it was inevitable that he would eventually be captured, so he wasn't sure what point there was in delaying it. Moreover, fighting back would only further assert that he was guilty of something. They would realize, eventually, that he wasn't like like his brother. As he came to the realization that there was nothing for him to do, his shoulders slumped slightly, and he didn't fight as the guards grabbed his arms. Seb cast a glance toward Evolet and smiled tightly. "I'll be fine," he mouthed at her.

Evolet was pushed aside and as they seized Seb, she felt rage rise up inside her. She would never let herself feel helpless like this again. “Don’t worry Seb, I’ll get you out. I promise.” She watched as he was dragged away, a knot in her stomach.
