Destrian watched the display with a sense of admiration. She was incredible, and she was deadly. His eyes darkened as she approached them, staring into the void of churning black smoke. He recalled how it felt to use her against his enemies, how intoxicating it was to hold such power. He had locked her away to avoid going down a very dark path, but now he could feel the familiar, wicked sensation growing within him.
He blinked, abruptly drawing himself out of the short trance. Taking Ari's hand, he turned toward the house, "Let's go inside." Without looking back at Cyra, he strode toward the cottage and up the front steps. He didn't force her back into her human form, rather he would give her the opportunity to make that decision on her own. He was willing to give her some semblance of free will, if she was willing to cooperate and be reasonable. Just when he was beginning to feel that they were making some progress, he swung the front door open to find that she had wreaked havoc on the inside of the home.

Everything about being a sentient cloud of smoke was abstract. It was another indescribable feature, another perk. In this form, her thoughts were no longer trapped inside her head. She could separate herself from them up here and watch them as they passed by. And looking down at Destrian and Ari, picturing how easy it would be wreck them, made her feel powerful. She was like God - or a god. She could decide who lived or died.
Except for Destrian. She watched them pass under her and into the cabin. She watched Destrian’s body go rigid - probably with rage - at the sight of the cabin. Much to her dismay, it was less satisfying to watch her mayhem play out in this form. She couldn’t hurt him in this form, but she could get a rise out of him as a person.
She fell to the ground, the smoke dispersing in all directions to leave Cyra standing behind. She sauntered up to the cabin behind them, brushing past them and moving inside to sit on the couch, which had been too big for Cyra to really destroy. She leaned back, putting her feet back, and looked over her shoulder at Destrian with an eyebrow raised. “Aren’t you coming in?” She asked, pretending to not even notice the destruction around them.

Ari had to hide a smile as they stepped into the cabin and she saw the destruction. She could tell Destrian was angry. Of course, they had a very long and complex relationship, but from where Ari was standing, she could understand why Cyra would have destroyed the inside of the cabin. She was a powerful being, cursed to Destrian, who had been kept dormant for a decade. If Ari had been in her situation, she would have done the same. She let go of Destrian's hand and settled on the couch, blinking back at him with amusement as her wolf prowled into the house and settled at her feet. "Cabin fever a little to strong?" she mused to Cyra.

Destrian cast the both of them a lingering glare as they settled onto the couch. He hated messes. He was minimalist at heart- no clutter, no mess, no drama. Turning away from his partner and the smug little brat, he disappeared back out the front door. He approached their horses, muttering to himself as he gathered all of the belongings that they had traveled with, slinging several bags over his shoulders. Jinx followed silently at his heels as he returned to the cottage and kicked the front door shut behind them. The panther slunk to a dark corner, eyes glowing in the dim light as she gazed at the strange girl.
"Congratulations, you've created a chore for yourself," Destrian announced, tossing one of the bags onto Cyra's lap unceremoniously. It contained some hand-me-down clothes from Ari and other necessities. "Since Ari and I have jobs, you can spend the near future cleaning up and refurnishing the house. It will give you an excuse to get out of the house, meet some people, and make yourself useful." Since the all the other chairs in the house had been smashed, she sat on the edge of the kitchen table and crossed his arms, as though waiting for some kind of protest.

Cyra cracked a victorious smile when Ari sides with her - maybe she wouldn’t be such a drag to live with. She could practically see the steam blow of Destrian’s ears and it made the moment even sweeter.
“I’m not one for being cooped up.” She said playfully, watching Destrian storm out. He came back a moment later and a bag was thrown at her. It had barely touched her lap before she started to dig through it, obviously not overly impressed with what she found but something was better than nothing.
Everything up until this moment felt like a win until Destrian mentioned cleaning up her mess. Cyra rarely thought about the consequences of her actions and when she destroyed the cabin, it had been different. The thought that Destrian would have the nerve to make her clean up after what he did was so outlandish that she hadn’t even considered it.
“I’m not cleaning shit up. I’m going to go and do shit, see places and whatnot.” It came out unconvincing because Cyra didn’t actually have a plan of what she was going to do except she knew she wasn’t about to clean up the mess she made. She wanted to have fun, and if that involved alcohol, drugs, and/or breaking the law, then that was just the way it was. Destrian already wanted as little to do with her as she with him, so she was hoping he wouldn’t really care. And even if he did care, he could go fuck himself.

"Why can't you do both? Do something constructive as well as something fun." Ari stroked Luna's ears, her smile fading away. The amusement hadn't lingered long- she would get along well enough with Cyra if the being wasn't a pain in the ass at all times- but they would have problems if all Cyra could do was destroy.

"There's an idea," Destrian chimed in to agree with Ari. In reality, he didn't care what she ended up doing with her time. As long as she wasn't bothering him, or getting them all into major trouble, she could go and participate in whatever self destructive behavior she so desired. She would quickly learn that reckless behavior could lead to dangerous situations. Even though she was practically inhuman, that didn't mean she was immune to trauma. She was naive, and the sooner she learned, the better.
"We aren't going to live here with you forever. I'm just giving you time to get set up. If you want to live in disarray like an animal, fine. But I'm not cleaning your mess," he informed her. By now, his eyes had drifted toward Ari, noting her change of mood. She was a saint for dealing with this, and he knew he had to make it up to her somehow.

Destrian probably didn’t mean to trigger Cyra, but that’s exactly what he did. She tensed, shooting a glare at Destrian before looking between the pair of them. She couldn’t remember her parents, if she had had any, and she wasn’t about to let Destrian parent her. Unfortunately for Destrian, she had years of rage built up that wasn’t going to be pacified anytime soon.
“I’m sorry that my life is getting in the way of yours. Maybe when I’m done making sure you don’t die, you can just put me back up in the fucking mountain for another decade.” Her voice dripped with anger, her glare settling on Destrian. Ari was annoying but wasn’t the target of her rage.
She got up. She didn’t want to be here anymore, not with them. If they wanted to dump her on her own until they needed her, then fuck them, she didn’t want them. She would survive. Cyra stepped over some of her destruction, “If you don’t want to live her, then fuck off. I’ll figure everything out on my own. Since you’re so fucking keen on abandoning me, just get the fuck out already.”
A plan started to form - she could find someone who would be willing to kill Destrian. If he didn’t know, he couldn’t force her to stop it. And without him, the magic holding her hostage would hopefully disappear and she would be free. And then she would make everyone pay for her suffering.

Ari watched Cyra warily, as the woman seemed to explode with rage. She stood up, her body tense. She could tell that Destrian was in trouble- Cyra wouldn't abide this way for long. She wouldn't let anything happen to him, that was for damn sure. "No need to get touchy. You can do as you please, Cyra. But you are bound to Destrian, and you had best not forget that."

Destrian stared at her levelly as she blew up once again. He'd come to the conclusion that anything he had to say would piss her off, so it was useless to try to pacify her. He was going to tell her the truth, whether she liked it or not, "You don't want us to live with you forever, Cyra. You want to be independent, don't you?" he pointed out, tired of her bullshit.
"You have a right to be angry, but don't forget why they tied you to me in the first place. Actions have consequences," he narrowed his eyes at her knowingly. As far as he could tell, she had not changed. Someone capable of mass murder and destruction did not deserve his pity, "Prove yourself." He turned away, having nothing else to say to her. She could take the advice or leave it.

Being reminded of his power of her was like dumping accelerant onto an already burning fire. If looks could kill, Ari would have been six feet underground from the glare Cyra shot at her. Even though she hadn’t expected Destrian to not abandon her, and she didn’t want him around anyway, but it still hurt that he was completely disregarding her feelings. It was unfair that he was asking her to be a person when all he had ever done was treat her as a monster.
She was about ready to demolish this house, but she had a feeling Destrian would stop her - especially because he wouldn’t let any harm come to precious girlfriend. How fucking nice of him to have a life while she was locked up on a goddamn mountain, and then label her as the crazy one for being upset? This is why Cyra felt no regret when she leveled entire towns, leaving a wake of destruction behind her. People were assholes. If they wanted to treat her like a monster, then a monster she would be.
She couldn’t stay in this house with them right now because she couldn’t punch Destrian, and he would flip out if she punched Ari. She pushed past him, stomping towards the door but paused and looked back at him, “Your actions have consequences, too. The difference between you and me is that I own up to what I’ve done, I don’t pretend that the people I’ve hurt aren’t justified in their pain. I don’t expect them to get over it or move on. You stole ten years of my life Destrian, ten fucking years. I don’t know how to be a person anymore.” Cyra stopped, obviously becoming very emotional over the course of her speech. She hadn’t planned on Destrian seeing anything other than her wrath, but it was so hard to keep her emotions in check. “I’m going out. Don’t wait up.” And with that, she turned and fled from the house with absolutely no idea where she was or where to go.

Ari turned to look at Destrian as Cyra fled, feeling pity for the monster. "I believe I require some additional context, my love. Who is she, what did she do? Why did you lock her away?"

"Damnit," Destrian cursed, watching her go. Part of him was relieved to have her out of his sight, but the other, ever persistent part of him was only growing more guilty. He looked to Ari as she questioned him and pushed a frustrated hand through his dark hair, "I know. I know," he moved toward the couch and collapsed onto it, suddenly feeling exhausted, "She's just a girl...with more power than anyone should have to be responsible for. But she made her decisions. She destroyed towns, murdered countless people. That's why they did this to her- made her my responsibility. I never asked for it. I wanted to forget. So I locked her away and never looked back. How could I move on when I held that power in my hands? I was a kid, too." he placed his face in his hands, rubbing his temples, "I know what I did was wrong. But have I made an even bigger mistake letting her out?" he looked to Ari, seeking advice from the only person he really trusted.

Ari watched Destrian as he grappled with the consequences of his actions. To her, Cyra seemed as human as either of them. She had needs and desires. Perhaps she was reckless and chaotic, but Ari believed Destrian could begin to repair the damage he had done by locking her away. Ari moved to sit beside him and put her arms around him, resting her chin on his shoulder. "I don't think you did. I think you did the right thing, for us and for her. I think you have a really good chance of mending your relationship with her, if you're patient and you put in the work. It's unfair that this burden was placed on you, but I think now that you're older and wiser, you can use this to your advantage."

Destrian visibly relaxed as Ari embraced him, leaning against her to absorb the much needed comfort. Digging up his past was taxing, to say the least. "I'm going to do my best," he agreed quietly, though he had strong doubts. Ari didn't know Cyra. She wanted revenge on him and the nagging, uneasy feeling in his stomach told him that she was going to try to kill him at some point. Mending their relationship seemed impossible, but he had to find a solution that didn't involve locking her away for eternity.
He turned to press a kiss to Ari's forehead, "I don't deserve you," he told her, "You're a saint, and I'm going to make it up to you," he promised.
