Derric woke up early before the rest of his growing group and watched them sleep for a moment before clicking his tongue to the tiger beside him. Ember’s ears perked and she rose to her feet while he gathered his things to leave. He would return before they would wake, he simply needed to bathe and catch breakfast before the sun rose. Derric would bring the others to the cave where Velka lived later on in the day. Once he found a creek, the former Gypsy undressed and folded his clothes neatly before setting them aside. He did not mind being so vulnerable knowing Ember was near by as well as his new fellow barbarians. The water was cold yet refreshing as he waded in and began to rinse his skin clean. He decided he should shave his growing beard once he finished washing himself.

Louisa was awoken by the sound of Derric shuffling about as he collected his things. She blinked open her eyes slowly, just in time to see him start to walk away from their small camp. As he continued moving he became obscured from her field of vision since she was still laying on the ground. Coming to a decision, she sat up, hurriedly grabbed her bag, and scrambled to her feet, determined to follow him; it would give them, in her opinion, some much needed alone time.
She was a fairly skilled tracker and Derric had no need to try and hide his trail, so it was easy for her to follow him while remaining at a distance. Louisa crept to the edge of the brush near the creek and watched, heart racing, as Derric undressed and stepped into the water. The sight of his unclothed body wasn't something she had expected to see, but it was a welcome surprise.
She watched him bathe for a few minutes, never daring to take her eyes off him, before slowly slipping back further into the brush to gather her thoughts. She could join him. Pretend that she had also awoken and decided to wash herself. The more she thought about it, the more appealing the idea became. She walked silently away from the creek for another twenty or so paces, then began to walk back toward the creek, making a point of causing noise every now and then by snapping a twig under her foot or pushing a branch back out of her way. It would seem abnormal, she thought, for her to come out of the trees with no warning, no noise to alert Derric and Ember to the fact that another person was approaching.
Louisa stepped out of the brush and took in Derric still in the water and Ember on the creek bank. "Oh, I'm sorry," she said, making a show of blushing and smiling shyly. "I didn't realize you had come here. I intended to bathe."

Again always in sync, both he and the tigress looked to the source of the sound once Louisa made noise. He had a rather intense look until he realized who it was that had followed. “Louisa,” he said with a nod and small smile. Derric made a point to cover himself by lowering himself deeper into the water. “I understand we have trust in each other but you should still make a point to be silent in the forest, not all of it is kind.” He brushed a hand over his shoulder where the Wendigo had bitten him, feeling more blessed than cursed having been tangled in the beautiful mess. He observed her shyness and hesitated in what to say. He could easily have her imprint on him given her rosy cheeks at the sight of him nude, but it could also easily complicate his true goal. The brothers were his left and right hand men, he wasn’t sure where Louisa would fit. “Join me, I’m almost finished anyway.” He turned his back on her so she could undress in private and resumed in splashing water over his head to wash the grime away.

Louisa watched as he sank deeper into the water, feeling her stomach flutter as he returned her smile. "Okay," she said, standing still for a moment more to look at him when he turned away before beginning to undress. She shivered as her skin was exposed to the chill morning air and stepped quickly over to the creek. As she stepped in, Derric could hear the soft splash of her feet making contact with the water. Louisa waded in until the water just covered her breasts. She was a few feet from Derric now, and she eyed his bare skin, desire stirring in her. "You can turn around," she said, her tone more relaxed now. Derric may not have known where she would fit in his group yet, but she did. She would be his most devout follower. She would worship him, and she would pleasure him. For her, the fact that they would be together intimately this was a conviction, not a fantasy.

When given her word of approval, he turned back around although still making a point to not look at her directly out of respect. He may not have been the most polite man, but he did respect others around him to an extent. “Where did you come from? I have seen your face before although we have never spoken until last night.” Derric then made eye contact after he broke the silence. It was hard to read his thoughts through his rather blank expression, but his mind was at work. He would inquire about her and nitpick always to manipulate the girl even further to his agenda. In the back of his mind, he was worried that once they started slaughtering people for sacrifice, it would cause some of the other barbarians to leave. He trusted the brothers would stay, at least Fenris would. Fell would follow unless he found another strong individual to follow. As for the woman with the dragon, he was entirely unsure where she truly stood. For a moment, the former gypsy wished she had followed him instead. Louisa was clearly serious in following due to her more dramatic display from the previous night. A small light flickered in his eyes as he formed where she could be of use to him. “What is it you seek from Velka?”

Louisa splashed water over her face, neck, and shoulders, gently rubbing her skin to clean it. She looked back at him as he spoke again and said, "I reside with the gypsies, typically, but I come and go as I please to hunt or explore the city markets or whatever else intrigues me. You've probably seen me around the gypsy encampments; I recognize you from there." She arched her neck to dunk her hair back into the water, then ran her fingers through it and squeezed some of the water from the ends, contemplating how to answer his final question. She sought him, of course, but she couldn't very well tell him that; not yet, anyway. "I seek love," she said finally, settling on a more vague explanation of her desire.

The Gypsies of course. Her face suddenly seemed a lot more clear in his memories when he recalled her being around the area. It was unexpected that she would wind up in the same area as him to get to where they were at now. Derric rubbed his jaw in thought and let out a deep “Hmm.” As Louisa answered his question on Velka, he began to watch her movements as she bathed. “Love is a dangerous thing,” and something he wasn’t sure he himself believed in. Of course animals felt companionship and bonds, but romantically? Obviously she meant with her own species, but the thought of Ember in heat after him nearly made him laugh out loud. Derric followed the laws of nature and it was all about survival. He had no desire for emotional things. “Why love?” He moved closer towards her, slowly, testing the waters.

"Maybe I like danger," Louisa tossed back, flashing him a small smile. She lifted a hand wipe away some water that had dripped onto her face and watched as he began to move closer, feeling her heartbeat quicken just a little. With her eyes on him still, she bit her lip, contemplating his question before saying, "It's the one thing I can remember wanting since I was young... And I'm not sure if I'll ever find it on my own."

Derric mentally scoffed at her words, she was such a typical little girl. “You’ve found both on your own already. Here, with us. With me,” he said as he stopped right in front of her, his dark eyes not breaking eye contact once with hers. He brushed a piece of her wet hair out of her face and cupped her chin, tilting her head up at his. He stared at her for a moment only although his mind raced, overthinking. If Velka gave her what she wanted, he would lose her loyalty, unless he showed her that she already had love here. “I need you to do something with me.” The others knew their task, he and Louisa had plenty of time to do their own task. He’d show her the thrill of the hunt.

Louisa likewise didn't break her gaze from his, keeping her eyes trained on his own as he moved closer. When he reached out to brush away her hair and then rested his fingers under her chin, it was difficult not to lose her self-restraint and reach out to touch him in turn. "I've found love with you, you say?" She asked softly, eyes still locked on his own. She felt a flutter in her stomach and warmth between her legs at the thought of his body so close to hers with no clothing between them, a few inches of water their own separation now from merging. She was tempted to ask him to prove that what he said was true, that he loved her, but instead she said, "What is it you want to do?" As she spoke, she lifted her hand, water dripping from it, and broke her gaze from his to watch as she dragged her index finger down the middle of his chest, starting at the space right beneath his throat and halting at the water's surface.

“Come with me to the outskirts of Nethilor.” Had he not been familiar with the younger woman, he would have snapped her finger off for touching him, but this was not the case clearly. Her touch was light and he hardly paid attention to it, but he did push the boundary as well with her. His hand moved from her chin to the base of her neck, although it may as well have covered all of it due to their size difference. “Velka needs a blood sacrifice,” he began as he leaned down so that their faces were inches apart, eyes continually locked, “I want my most loyal member at my side.”

Louisa bit her lip, feeling her restraint melt further as Derric's hand moved from her chin to her neck, a spot that was arguably more sexual. She was disappointed that he didn't respond to her touch, but then again, she hadn't verbally responded to his either; for all she knew, Derric felt just as she did, barely holding together his restraint. Imagining Derric burning with equal desire for her only pushed her closer to the edge though, so she did her best to shove the thought away and focus on his words instead.
As he leaned down closer to her, Louisa's eyes flicked back up to meet his own. The idea of working alone with Derric appealed greatly to her, and the compliment about her loyalty only strengthened her desire to join him. "Of course, it would be my honor to join you in hunting this sacrifice," she said softly, letting a smile grace her lips before continuing innocently, "Are you sure that's... All you'd like to do with me?"

Derric could feel her temperature rising especially in comparison to the cool water they were in. He knew their bond would be strong alone due to her desire towards him, more so now that she made it apparent in her inquiry. He could take her now on the shore but for two reasons he couldn’t, she was definitely too young for his age and it would complicate things. Her loyalty is what he wanted but if she were too loyal, she would make it impossible to work with others alone as he was with her now. On top of that, she could easily turn her loyalty towards him into jealousy towards Velka. He could not have that.
“Excellent,” he said as he picked her up into his arms so that her legs could wrap around his waist. “We go this evening before sunset. It will give the others time to gather materials for the shrine.” He walked slowly out of the water, their mutual nudity much more apparent despite being aware of it beforehand. That was his mistake, she felt good in his arms like this and desire shot through his body despite his mental blockage towards her. “Louisa I would break you,” he said as he set her down and avoided looking at her figure. Derric turned away to grab a knife from his clothes and he returned to the edge of the water, shaving away the beard on his face. He wouldn’t dress yet, he’d let himself air dry first.

Not expecting Derric to pick her up and carry her from the water, Louisa hurriedly wrapped her arms around his neck and legs around his waist, clinging onto him as they made their way to shore. She liked the feeling of his powerful arms around her, their bodies pressed together, and disappointment roiled through her as Derric set her down rather than pressing her back to a tree and taking her."I am not fragile," she scoffed, feeling a flare of anger rise in her at his assumption. "And I would not break, not from you." Rather than trying to conceal herself, she stood with her chin held high, unashamed of being totally exposed, and watched, half with contempt and half with desire, as Derric averted his gaze from her and set himself to the task of shaving.

“So you think,” he said as he gazed at himself in the water despite the image reflected being distorted. He let out an inaudible sigh and beckoned her to come to him. “Mentally, no. Physically however... But I can’t. Not now. Bring my coat so we can sit on it, come do this for me,” Derric gestured to his face. She had better eyes than he would. He knew he would miss spots or worse, nick his skin with his blade. “I do enjoy your spirit, Louisa, if you can’t be broken by me then you won’t be broken by what’s to come.” The idea of strong founders at his side caused a deep sense of pride and almost happiness to surge through his body. He was excited for later on in the day when they would have their first hunt together.
