As Chloe felt the heat slowly leave her cheeks from her embarrassment she slowly looked up to the man only to see his scowl and quickly averted her gaze once more. Her gaze only returned to him as he spoke a rhetorical question of which she opened her mouth to answer but immediately snapped shut as he answered it for her. Her eyes narrowed for a moment on the man and she gritted her teeth as she held back words that so desperately wanted to escape. True she was his prisoner but if he had wanted her dead he would have already killed her on the path where they met and she thought it would be only right for her to use her manners as she tried to stay calm in this situation. This man may have been cursed but he sure still had the fiery bite from his dragon form and that was something Chloe was starting to fully take in.
She sighed as she studied the ropes holding her upright in the chair and thought that although the position would be uncomfortable to sleep in with all the ropes, the chair wasn’t the worse thing she had attempted to sleep on when her and her sister left their parents’ home. Once she finished studying her binds she couldn’t help but catch a hint of something savory in the air as she was brought out of her thoughts and to the present. A small grumble from her stomach that seemed to ache to know where the scent was coming from and her curiosity caused her to turn her head to see, though the motion only caused her neck to ache in slight pain. Chloe bit her bottom lip to hold back a soft groan as she looked forward in an attempt to avoid the tinge of pain.
It didn’t matter what the smell was, she thought to herself, she knew it was something unobtainable at that time. Although whatever it was smelled delicious, she was not starving and had no reason to try to negotiate at that moment especially with how her negotiations earlier turned out. Her bright eyes closed as she tried to think of anything other than what food the man might have until he spoke to her again. Chloe blinked her eyes open as she took in his questions and realization seemed to hit her like a slap to the face. That was why she was still alive, not for any other reason. He was worried someone may come try to find her which would only cause more trouble for him.
She clenched her teeth shut as she thought over the best way to answer his questions, would it truly mattered what she told him? Either way it would be easier if she were dead and she knew he had it in him to end her life whenever he saw fit without a care. Though the thoughts she had before while his hands were around her throat soon began to resurface, what truly was the point in her life right now? Did it truly matter if she lived or died? She finally let out a sigh as she came to a decision on how to answer his question and stared down at the ground. “My name is Chloe, Chloe Mauntell, and no I don’t think I have anyone who will miss me,” She explained to him and let her hair fall into her face slightly as if it were a way for her to hide as she continued, “my parents gave up on having someone search for my sister and I long ago, not too long after we first ran away, and now my sister is gone. I suppose she had no need for me anymore or something happened to her, I’m not completely sure which. Only thing I am sure of is that I doubt she will be searching for me anytime soon, she has been gone for a while now.”
