Isolde sat silently in the garden beside the castle walls, her feet comfortably curled up onto the bench beside her. It was a calm day, birds chirping in the distance and a cool breeze that blew a few strands of her red hair to the side as her gaze focused on the book within her hands. This was a perfect time for her to read and imagine the lands far from her home. Wondering what it would be like to see those lands, to be someone other than herself. A soft sigh slipped from her lips after flipping through a few pages of her book at the thought.

Talion was pacing through the gardens, his red wolf Ryshon at his side. Talion had been tense since Wolfgang's trial, and with the tensions brewing between the two kingdoms. He wore his armor, clearly on duty, and the Raevryn cloak across his shoulders. His light brown hair shimmered with faint golden hues in the sunlight. As he came across Isolde, he bowed respectfully to her. "My lady," he greeted her. "My apologies for interrupting your reading."

Isolde’s obsidian eyes blinked at the sound of chainmail and armor, the slight clang pulling her from her thoughts and the page she had been focused on. She quickly sat up from her relaxed state, placing her feet on the ground and squaring her shoulders as she sat upright. Her gaze landed on Talion as he appeared and let a soft smile form on her lips. Isolde bowed her head in return as he greeted her and shook her head before she spoke with a soft chuckle, “Please don’t apologize, it was at a boring part anyway.”
Isolde glanced down towards Ryshon and her smile brightened at the sight of the maned wolf. She held her hand out slightly for her to smell and whispered a greeting to the wolf as well, “Greetings beautiful one.” Her gaze then glanced up towards Talion and carefully studied his tensed features, her brows furrowing. “Pray tell, why are you so tense?” She asked with a tilt of her head and continued politely, “If you don’t mind me asking that is, I hope you don’t find the question to be too forward.” She knew of a few things that may have been on his mind, though she only knew what her parents told her which wasn’t much. With her parents sheltering her, all she had truly focused on recently were her books.

Talion's face creased into a scowl as she asked, though Ryshon seemed receptive to the girl and allowed her to pet her. "Are you new to court, my lady?" Talion inquired, wondering if she had missed all of the drama. "I feel tension between the kingdoms in the air. There's a lot of pressure on our soldiers right now, and me being at their head, I take that very seriously."

Isolde’s gaze returned to Ryshon and let her eyes soften on the wolf as she was allowed to pet her, gently scratching behind her ears. Her brows furrowed at Talion’s question and looked up at him in confusion, her eyes blinking in slight surprise at his scowl. “No, I’m not new, I just,” She retorted but cut herself off before she continued and let a soft sigh leave her lips while she composed herself, “unfortunately recently my parents have become a little more strict than usual, I suppose that is why. In all honesty my life has become more or less drowned in these.” She held the book she had been reading up to Talion, showing him what her focus had been on recently while being secluded by her parents.
It took her a moment to truly take in his comment about tensions growing between the kingdoms and her gaze filled with a mixture of feelings. Worry for those in the kingdom and grief that she didn’t fully understand what was happening. “I’m sorry that you have to not only shoulder your own burdens but the burdens of others as well all on your own,” She stated, her voice just above a whisper then glanced towards Ryshon and let a wary smile form on her lips, “at least you have this wonderful companion by your side to help.”

"Why do your parents keep you locked away?" Talion inquired. Perhaps it was a forward question for someone he'd just grown acquainted with, and he was amused at her fire, which she'd suddenly quelled to be polite. He wanted to see more of that fire. As she mentioned his burdens, he shrugged, though pain flashed through his eyes. The things between Bram and Blythe were always on his mind, Blythe especially. "It's the job I took on when I became a general. It's an honor to have these burdens." He patted Ryshon on her head, "Her name is Ryshon."

Isolde blinked her dark eyes a bit taken aback by his question, her brows furrowing once more though this time in thought. Why did her parents keep her so secluded? She grew up knowing it was impolite to physically touch others, especially without her gloves, but she didn’t understand why all of a sudden she was being pulled back even more. Was it because of everything growing between the kingdoms? Or was it because she had become more curious of things after reading all the books she had? The want to see the places described in the pages and the thought of what it would be like to touch someone with her own hands.
She cleared her throat and shook her head slightly as if to pull herself from her thoughts as she finally noticed she had been nervously adjusting her gloves. She looked up at Talion and answered finally with a tint of pink forming on her cheeks in embarrassment, “I’m sorry, I’m not quite sure. My parents have always been this way ever since I was young, though I suppose recently it has become worse. They may just be acting more protective with the tension forming between the kingdoms.” She gave a slight shrug of her shoulders, brushing off the question in a way. As a Lady she never questioned her parents and why should she? She should trust them right? They were her parents after all, they only wanted the best for her or so she believed.
Her gaze looked deep into his, searching them curiously as Talion responded to her comment of his burdens. True it was his decision to take the job of a general and she was sure he knew what he was getting into when he took the position, but was having such a burden truly an honor? Was it an honor to hold on his shoulders alone? She brushed her fingers through her blood red hair, brushing it back behind her ears as she reminded herself that she didn’t fully know this man and what he could handle. She had seen him around the castle true but had never really spoken with him in such a way so she had no right to judge or question him.
As he introduced his wolf, the wary smile on her lips brightened a bit and she let her gaze turn to the maned wolf. “Ryshon is a beautiful name, perfect for a gorgeous wolf,” She commented as she leaned over and gently scratched behind Ryshon’s ear gently once more. She then returned her gaze to Talion and stood from her spot, making sure to keep her posture. “I do apologize, I don’t think we have formally met. My name is Lady Isolde Adair, but please call me Isolde,” She introduced and clutched the side of her skirt with her free hand, curtsying as she did so.

Talion watched as the silence stretched on, as Isolde clearly thought through his question. It was clear she'd never rebelled against her parents' wishes. As she fiddled with her gloves, Talion noted it as a sign of discomfort or unease. "It's a pity, there is so much to enjoy in the world. Are you being saved to be wed?" He inquired, and when she introduced herself, he quickly bowed to her. "Talion Finch, at your service."

Isolde’s cheeks flared a deep red at Talion’s question and she quickly looked away from him to hide her face as she hastily responded, “No, of course not.” She then blinked as she realized how quickly she had responded and did her best to compose herself once more as she let a hesitant laugh slip from her lips. “I mean I don’t believe so, my parents have never spoke to me about marriage,” She began then held her book up against her chest within her arms and continued in a mumble, “in all honesty if it were up to them I probably wouldn’t be married off or if I was it would be to someone who wouldn’t want anything to do with me.”
Her obsidian eyes saddened a bit as she took in his statement about there being so much to enjoy in this world. She sighed softly and let her gaze rest on the book in her arms. “The world sounds like an interesting place; or so I’ve read,” She stated as her grip on the book tightened ever so slightly. A glint of curiosity formed in her dark eyes as she looked up at Talion once more and asked with a tilt of her head, “Have you seen it? Have you traveled to other regions by chance?”

Talion chuckled at her response, "You know my lady, you try to come across as demure and dainty like a lady ought to be, but I far better like the instant reactions you have rather than your revised ones." He clasped his hands behind his back, wondering if she would stand up for herself in the instance that a marriage was arranged for her. "I am not originally from here. I commanded another, smaller army in a different country. Not so unlike Alynthia really, but still an entirely other experience."

Isolde blinked her dark eyes in surprise at his comment, a bit taken aback. If she could have blushed an even deeper red she would have, her face almost as red as her hair. She glanced away once more and cleared her throat. She then brushed her hair back behind her ear nervously as the heat in her cheeks started to fade a bit and looked down at her feet as she spoke, “I apologize, I’ve never been the best at being completely reserved like my parents, though I don’t usually have many conversations like this.”
Her eyes began to light up with wonder as Talion explained to her of how he was from another country. “What was it like there?” She ask curiously as she beamed and instinctively stepped towards him without realizing.

"It was quaint, an easy way of life." Talion's eyes darkened and he felt the beast inside him stir. Ryshon pushed against his side, as if to remind him to stay grounded. He took a breath. "Until a neighboring army rose up and smashed my forces to pieces. They slaughtered my entire city, I was the only one who escaped."

Isolde’s eyes widened a bit for a moment as he explained what happened to his home then let her eyes soften sadly on his form. Her hand hesitantly reached out to Talion, stopping for a moment in uncertainty before she gently placed her hand on his arm comfortingly. “I am so sorry Talion,” She told him in a soft voice and looked up into his eyes as she continued, “I know there is nothing I can do to change the past, but is there anything I can do to help you now? With everything going on is there anything I can do to help get your mind off of the past and the present?”

Talion withdrew his arm from her touch, not to be rude, but because he didn't take well to receiving sympathy. "No, thank you my lady. Perhaps I can do something for you. If you ever feel like leaving the castle, I can be your escort."

Isolde blinked as Talion withdrew his arm from her and hastily pulled her hand back, perhaps she had done something wrong. She wasn’t use to physical contact and was uncertain if she had done the right thing, she had been going off of interactions she had seen as well as read in her books. She carefully wrapped her arms around her book once more and looked down at it as she awkwardly avoided eye contact with him, unsure of what to do or say.
As he spoke she slowly nodded her head in understanding, taking a moment to take in his words. Her brows furrowed at his comment and she glanced up at him for a moment before quickly averting her gaze towards the flowers in the garden. “Really? You would do that for me?” She asked curiously; no one had offered to be her escort before, though she hardly was able to talk to anyone without her parents around. Isolde tilted her head slightly at the thought of leaving the castle without her parents looming over her, a small smile slowly forming on her lips at the little adventure.
