As her crew members tried to wrangle a mermaid, Attila was blissfully unaware of their trouble. The captain of the night Marauder kept her eyes on the horizon, guiding the course of her ship. It had been far too quiet for her liking, out at sea. The fearsome woman was hungry for a target- another ship, rival pirates, merchants, anything.

As if on cue, Eira seemed to have appeared out of the clouds mounted on a Pegasus. It wasn’t her usual snowy companion, but instead black in color. She easily spotted Attila’s ship both from recognizing its uniqueness and from her new internal instinct. Clicking her tongue, she guided the winged stallion down, circling the ship before landing on the deck. The General made no comment of the mermaid, she didn’t care for fairytale things. Regardless Eira was rather speechless as she approached the Captain. Her expression was stoic but her eyes had some sort of longing in them. “I’m surprised I was able to catch you.”

The captain turned as Eira landed, hearing the sound of hooves hitting the deck. She grinned as she recognized Eira. So, the woman was using her new magic after all. It still felt strange to Attila, knowing someone had sacrificed so much just to be able to find her, to see her again. It felt like a large commitment, an emotion bigger than she could hold. Nevertheless, having Eira here would ease her boredom. It wouldn't quench her lust for battle, but it would satisfy her in other ways. "I didn't expect you to come so soon. Welcome aboard the Marauder." The captain leaned casually against the helm, the wind gentle tousling her tight curls. "Is there a reason for your visit other than to see me?" she grinned teasingly, full of herself as ever.

Eira crossed her arms, brow arching at Attila’s arrogance. “Don’t act as if I don’t have my duties to perform. I need to know who is near the shores of Nethilor. Besides, my steed needs some rest.” She pointed her nose at the Pegasus that was idling. “What are you doing anyway aside from harassing the ocean’s creatures?” The general wondered if she would see the witch again, or rather how she could find her to undo the binding.

"A likely story," Attila chuckled, not at all convinced that this was a simple scouting mission. "You board every pirate vessel crossing your waters?" she mused, studying the general. She admired the woman's dedication, and the strength it must have taken her to get to her position. "Well, if you promise not to tell, I'm on my way to an island where some wondrous treasure remains untapped. My psychic navigator is taking us there. Apparently, none who have come to the island have left alive. I intend to be the first."

The smallest smirk crossed her face, “I board where I am welcomed and desired.” The word of a mysterious island was interesting but the navigator made her chuckle. “You are going to get lost at sea before you even get there.” Eira knew that Attila was capable of getting there despite it being far fetched. She had no worry because she could come right after her if needed. A concerned look crossed her face, “If you did die, what would happen do you think?”

"I hope the navigator proves true. She's technically a prisoner. If she serves me well, she will earn her freedom." Attila explained, knowing that it was a gamble. But Attila always erred on the side of risk rather than caution, truly believing the old adage that Fortuna favored the bold. And Attila was nothing if not bold. As Eira asked the question, Attila tilted her head, and her eyes took on a more serious gleam. "Do you mean like an afterlife, or what would happen to my crew and ship? Or do you mean how I would die?"

“And if she doesn’t serve you? If I were your prisoner, I’d lead you to your death even if it meant my own would follow.” But Eira was trained in this, to stay loyal to her country and her men. She could get out of imprisonment if she needed, but thankfully she hasn’t had to yet. “I’m sure you’d die in some valiant way and your ship will continue to sail, or you’d take your ship with you to the bottom of the ocean. I meant more us, if either of us die, what would happen to the other with this binding?” The general briefly crossed the thoughts of battle, if Attila would worry at all.

Attila chuckled as Eira gave a spot on analysis. "I knew it was risky. It's what I would do too, if I was her. I think, though, that she loves life at sea and she's also in love with one of my crew members. That gives me some insurance. And the man she fell for loved me first. He would never have backed her if he thought she might harm me." Loyalty was key to Attila when it came to her crew. She trusted Saoul, and Saoul trusted Nova. As Eira mentioned their bond, Attila's expression became uneasy. "I don't know. I would suppose so. Death tends to be one of the reliable ways to break spells. Did you have any luck finding the witch?"

“A love triangle to navigate eh? You’re entirely risky.” But she had plenty of rewards to show for her risks already taken. Eira was too strategic. Her last impulsive risk landed her right where she stood now, constantly longing for a pirate she hardly knew. As the woman spoke, a grim expression came across her eyes. She could kill her now and be done with it, back to full focus. Her fist clenched, torn between taking another impulsive risk or continuing to have this thing with the captain. “I did not, I have a feeling she’ll appear as she wishes versus me seeking her out.”

"Most likely," Attila murmured, for once, completely oblivious to the fact that she would be in any danger. She figured any person who was in love enough with her to enter into a blood covenant with a witch would not lift a hand to harm her. That arrogance would undoubtedly be Attila's downfall one day. If Eira were to strike against her, it would be an interesting match, as neither woman was likely to back down. "I must admit, the fact that you adore me so ardently still baffles me. Do you regret it because you do not love me, or do you regret it because I do not love you?"

She drew her sword quickly and pressed it against the other woman’s neck, “Don’t think I adore you. You know your fame and I needed to make sure my coasts didn’t have your dirty hands tainting it. My words were twisted as all witches do.” Still Eira hesitated, afraid of this unknown. Would she always feel a void where Attila was? Would she die with the woman? Her frustration showed in her eyes and she shoved the pirate back into the railing with a kick to the gut.

Attila gasped softly as she was kicked back against the railing, feeling the pang in her gut from Eira's boot. It was an unexpected turn, and Attila's blood raced as the general surprised her with violence. It sent a thrill up her spine and made her veins sing with adrenaline. Her eyes sparkled and she found it in her to grin at Eira, "If you did not adore me, your reaction would not have been so strong." Attila swept her foot at Eira's ankle to destabilized her and ducked away from the rail, drawing her cutlass. "Do you mean to kill me, general?" The captain challenged, her eyes burning into Eira. Attila couldn't have said why she'd taunted the other woman by telling her she didn't love her. Perhaps she was bored, perhaps she wanted to see what would happen, perhaps she was hiding her true feelings.

She let out a small grunt before facing her now opponent. “You said yourself that death is often a solution to bargains with a witch.” She swung, letting the clang of their weapons sting the air. That would speak for itself. Eira held her stance, letting Attila make her move. She had a hunch that her fighting style was true to a pirate’s, slimy and full of tricks, but the other woman was always full of surprises. “Let’s get this over with.”

"Why did you make the deal if you did not love me?" Attila pressed as the metallic clang cut through the air. Attila pushed forward, attacking Eira with a volley of arched strikes that were quick as a whip. Clearly, the woman knew her way around her blade. As she engaged with Eira, the adrenaline pumping, knowing that this dance was full of blood and danger, Attila felt more alive than she had in weeks. And though Attila had respected the Nethilor woman before, now, she felt true fondness towards her. As Attila spun away to avoid a blow from Eira, she drew her dagger from her belt and went in for a quick slash against the general's thigh, looking for first blood. The captain's movements were frenzied but measured as she engaged with the general, "Do you loathe me now that you gave yourself up to me?" Attila taunted.
